Thrive West Central is proud to announce that their Dementia Care Specialist, Amy Schorr, recently provided the Vigo County Public Library with the Dementia Friendly Business Training, which earned the library the Dementia Friendly Business Certificate. This certificate is from the Indiana University School of Public Health.

Vigo County Public Library’s Director of Public Services Jeanette Bouchie, left, holds a Dementia Friendly certificate with Thrive’s Dementia Care Specialist Amy Schorr.
Amy worked directly with VCPL employees to deepen their understanding of dementia and how it affects individuals and families. The session covered the characteristics and common signs of dementia, effective communication strategies for interacting with those experiencing cognitive changes, and practical ways to create a welcoming, supportive environment for people living with dementia. The Vigo County Library’s participation reflects its ongoing commitment to their core values, which include inclusiveness, community, collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
If your business or organization is interested in becoming more dementia friendly, please contact Amy Schorr at Thrive West Central at 812-238-1561, ext. 260, for more information.
