Businesses in Vigo, Clay, Parke, Vermillion, Sullivan, and Putnam counties can now receive Dementia Friendly Business Training from our Dementia Outreach Specialist.

Equip your staff to better serve individuals living with dementia and their care partners – an increasingly important demographic as our population ages. By fostering an inclusive environment, businesses can enhance the customer experience and build a reputation for compassion and accessibility. This can lead to increased customer loyalty and positive word-of-mouth.

The Dementia Friendly Business Training course was developed by Indiana University Health. Topics covered in the course include signs and symptoms of dementia, why businesses and the public should be aware of dementia, how to create a more inviting environment at business establishments, effective communication strategies to use with customers showing signs of dementia, and what to do in urgent situations.

Training takes about an hour, and at least 50% of employees must be trained in order to receive the certification. Once completed, businesses are listed on the Dementia Friendly Indiana website and receive a logo sticker to put on their door.
