Positive Partners, an education and support group for dementia care partners, will meet Wednesday, Jan. 14, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in the Foley Room at Providence Spirituality and Conference Center at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods.

The group is open to anyone in the region who supports or cares for someone living with dementia. Elizabeth Collins, clinical care director for the Sisters of Providence, will facilitate the session, which will focus on “Creative and Practical Tips for Getting Through the Day.”

Positive Partners provides resources, education and a community of support for caregivers navigating the challenges of dementia care.

The group was formed following a successful six-part dementia education series led by Collins and Thrive’s Dementia Outreach Specialist Amy Schorr.

“It’s a great program – to get actual feedback on how [someone with Alzheimer’s or dementia] processes information is so helpful,” says Becky Scott, who traveled from Parke County to attend the sessions. Her husband is living with early onset Alzheimer’s. “Even if you aren’t involved right now with someone with dementia, at some point in your life you’re going to be.”
