At Thrive, we want to improve the quality of life in West Central Indiana for everyone, from newborns to the elderly. We know that life for our aging and disabled community members can be challenging at times. We also know that caring for an aging or disabled loved one can be mentally and physically draining at times. That’s why Thrive’s goal is to provide resources that ease those difficulties and help our elderly and disabled clients live happier, more connected lives. We connect our community members to private, state and federal resources and funding, providing them with the resources they need to function independently, with dignity, and a better quality of life. Thrive’s 2022 Housing Analysis Report, indicates the population of elderly residents 65 and older in West Central Indiana will grow from 17.4% to 21.2% reaching it’s peak in 2050. Currently, 44.8% our regional population (7 counties) is 50 or older, and/or are slightly younger and empty nesters. As our population continues to age, it is extremely important to help individuals start to plan how to age in place longer with a high quality of life. That’s where Thrive comes in. Thrive has access to many local, state, and federal resources for our elderly and disabled citizens, from grant funding for region-wdie programs, to funds for individuals, their caretakers, and their homes. Whether you are 60+ or younger and wanting to start planning for your later years, these resources are available to you.

Thrive’s Aging and Disabled Resources division serves Vigo, Vermillion, Sullivan, Parke, Putnam, and Clay counties. Almost 1,500 aging and disabled individuals in these counties are currently receiving services and resources from Thrive.

In-Home Services and Care
In-Home Services includes any care and help provided inside of the client’s home, allowing elderly or disabled individuals to continue to live independently! Typically, this care may look like help with hygiene tasks, daily chores, medication reminders, or healthcare services. Types of care include:
Meals, Nutrition, and Health
We know that quality food and access to medical necessities are an important part of a happy life. But for some aging and disabled individuals, these resources can be hard to access or overly expensive. That’s why meals, nutritional, and health resources are so important to our communities. Home and Technology Modifications
As we age, our needs and abilities often change, making modifications necessary for a happy and healthy lifestyle. our needs and. These changes can include adding ramps to a home, installing a chair lift to stairs, and more! Thrive offers many different types of modifications and technologies to aid elderly individuals, including:
Transportation
A division of our Aging and Disabled Resources department, Thrive Transportation helps aging and disabled individuals attend appointments, get groceries, and more by providing safe and efficient transportation. Rural Transit is only to anyone, of any age, for any reason*. *Exclusions my apply due to program restrictions and allowances.
Congregate meal sites
Our congregate meal sites have transitioned to a grab & go system during COVID-19. The grab & go program will supply any person 60 and over (plus a spouse of any age) with five (5) frozen meals. All meals meet the Older American’s Act Nutrition Guidelines. Donations of $1.25 per meal are appreciated. If you are not already registered for a congregate meal site, you must call Midland Meals, our meal provider, at 765-477-7189 to register. Midland will help you find the closest congregate location.
